Whats new in Using
Now if some users are given the rights by your administrator; they can moderate Forums, community Files and Blogs content.
- Activities
a. The to-do item now has the ability to show the person it is assigned to when you collapse the view
- Blogs
a. Now we have the “ideation blog” inside a community that can be used to generate ideas on a particular topic and also get feedback on it
- Communities
a. Communities now have the new Media Gallery widget whose function is of sharing and uploading photos and videos with the rest of the community
b. Ideation Blog can be useful in allowing the members of the community to share and vote on the ideas
c. You can also review and manage the content of the community now like “blogs, files, forums etc.” if you are the community owner and “owner moderation” is enabled
d. Global moderation function helps the global moderators to review the community contents
e. Being a community owner gives you the advantage of adding a custom library to your community enabling the members to work with the ECM servers which contains documents and folders
- Forums
a. Owners of a forum can share the ownership responsibilities by adding an additional person as an owner of that particular forum
b. Owner moderation if enabled can be of use to the owners of forum and community owners who own a forum to moderate the content of the stand-alone forum or a forum in the community respectively
- Wikis
a. Integration of Sametime into Wikis

- IBM Connections
a. The new function of “adding Sametime awareness to IBM Connections through the Sametime server” if there is a server running your environment
b. New administrator command is being included that can help you to use it when you want to clear and/or restart all scheduled tasks
- Blogs
a. Blog posts and comments can be reviewed by the global moderators from a central interface when you enable the “global moderation”
- Bookmarks
a. The new ability to specify if you should load ”intranet favicons via direct network accsess or via the ajax proxy” can be done through this new configuration property “favicon.ajaxproxy.intranet.enabled”
- Communities
a. The new ability to assign someone the alternate ownership role for the community and subcommunity by the first owner/creator of the community
b. Community Moderation being enabled lets the global or community moderators the access to review the community contents before it is posted and added to the community
c. To manage the sharing of photos and videos by the community members can now be done by configuring and customizing Library Widget
- Forums
a. You can enable the “Forum global moderation” function and then an assigned or global moderator can review posts before been published to a forum and manage posts after been added to a forum
- Profiles
a. Change of name on the Reporting structure’s page for the property used to “change the display order of the full-report-to-chain”
b. Profiles search Directory page type-ahead tool’s behavior can now be adjusted by configuring tuning parameters
c. When the population of Profiles with user data takes place at that time we can have the “data” be integrated from non-LDAP sources which can be done when you create a “custom source repository connector”
- Search
a. By configuring the (LotusConnections-config.xml)’s settings we can add third-party search options to the Search menu
- Wikis
a. Sametime was integrated into Wikis
Integrated mobile support
Mobile users are now been given the permission by IBM Connections to access their corporate IBM Connections data on the move through a mobile application or a small browser depending on the device. These are the devices that are supported for this application: Apple iOS 4.0 and 5.0, Android 2.2 and above, Blackberry OS6, Nokia (micro-browser only), and RIM Playbook (micro-browser only) You can get your Connections mobile application directly from the app store(digitally) of the particular device.
